Liaoyang Carbon to restart graphite electrode production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 20 Apr 23 - Liaoyang Carbon Co., a medium-sized graphite electrode producer in northeast China, is scheduled to restart operation from early July and might release products from November, targeting around 1,000t this year, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We plan to resume production from early July and might release finished products from November," said the source, adding that they plan to produce around 1,000t this year, with present semi-finished stocks around 8,000t.
With the production capacity of 40,000tpy, they produced around 3,000t in 2022 and remained out of production since Q2 last year for the sluggish demand.
Current mainstream prices for HP graphite electrode D500mm in China keep at RMB18,500-19,000/t (USD2,683-2,756/t) EXW, down by RMB100/t (USD15/t) from late last week, as the purchase demand remains weak now. Producers remain pessimistic towards the price now.
