Chinese zirconium oxychloride producers to cut output

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 20 Apr 23 - Upon the sluggish demand and heavy stocks, some major zirconium oxychloride producers plan to cut output or even halt production in late April, leading the whole output in China in May to decrease MoM, disclosed several sources on Wednesday.
"We plan to stop production in late April upon the sluggish demand and our heavy stocks" revealed a producer in North China on Wednesday. The producer would produce around 800t in April, and they claimed that they have around one and half months' output as stocks now.
"We plan to do the maintenance for our antiseptic worksite in late April and one of our three production lines would stop then, and the output in May would decrease at least 30% in May MoM," revealed another producer in North China on Wednesday.
"We plan to stop production recently upon the bearish market, and the suspension would last at least one month," revealed a producer in South China on Wednesday.
The current mainstream prices of zirconium oxychloride 36%min Fe5-8ppm in China hover at RMB17,000-17,500/t (USD2,469-2,542/t) EXW D/P, down by RMB300/t (USD43/t) from late last week.
