Chinese 304 grade stainless CRC prices go up

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 19 Apr 23 - Chinese 304 grade stainless CRC suppliers raised their prices over the past one week mainly supported by higher raw material prices and the increase in steel mills' EXW prices. The current mainstream prices of stainless CRC 304/2B 2.0mm*1,219mm*C from TTSS hover at RMB16,150-16,200/t (USD2,350-2,358/t) D/P in warehouse Wuxi, and those of stainless CRC 304/2B 2.0mm*1,219mm*C from Yongjin Stainless stand at RMB16,250-16,300/t (USD2,365-2,372/t) D/P in warehouse Hangzhou, up by RMB500/t (USD73/t) respectively compared with those of last Friday. Insiders predict that Chinese 304 grade stainless CRC prices would lack momentum to rise further in the coming week due to customers' slow buying activities.
A Wuxi-based distributor of 304 grade stainless CRC told Asian Metal that the price of stainless CRC 304/2B 2.0mm*1,219mm*C from TTSS stands at RMB16,200/t (USD2,358/t) D/P in warehouse Wuxi with no concessions for the time being, up by RMB500/t (USD73/t) from last Friday. "Seeing TTSS further raised the EXW prices of 304 grade stainless CRC by RMB300/t (USD44/t) on April 18th after the increase of RMB200/t (USD29/t) on April 17th, we lifted the price by RMB500/t (USD73/t) this week," said the trader, adding that he already increased the price by a total of RMB900/t (USD131/t) over the past one week. According to him, seeing the sharp price rebound since last week, many customers just take cautious attitudes now and place orders sparingly. He just sold about 10t on Tuesday at RMB16,200/t (USD2,358/t) and last sold around 10t last Friday at RMB15,700/t (USD2,285/t). The trader plans to maintain the price unchanged and expects Chinese 304 grade stainless CRC prices to keep stable in the coming week on weak demand and high prices of steel mills.
Based on the regular sales volume of around 2,000tpm, the company sold about 2,000t last month and anticipates a stable sales amount in April. Having an inventory of about 500t in hand now, down from around 700t last month, they sold around 20,000t in 2022 and about 5,500t in the first quarter of this year.

"We also followed other trader to lift the price by RMB500/t (USD73/t) this week mainly supported by higher raw material prices and the increase in steel mills' EXW prices," said the trader, adding that the price of Jinchuan nickel cathode 99.96%min climbed by RMB8,000/t (USD1,164/t) over the past one week to about RMB193,500/t (USD28,160/t). However, customers still purchase materials upon orders at the moment and his sales performance does not become better. He just sold about 10t early this week at RMB16,300/t (USD2,372/t) and last sold around 10t last Friday at RMB15,800/t (USD2,299/t). The trader intends to keep the price unchanged and predicts that Chinese 304 grade stainless CRC prices would remain stable in the coming week on soft demand and high prices of steel mills.
