BEIJING (Asian Metal) 17 Apr 23 - Supported by the active purchase from India, some Indonesian zircon sand suppliers lifted export prices to China this week, and the current mainstream import prices of Indonesian zircon sand 66%min in China increased by USD50/t to USD2,100-2,150/t CIF China from two weeks ago. Given the firm offers but sluggish demand in China, insiders foresee the mainstream import prices of Indonesian zircon sand 66%min in China would go flat this week.
A consumer in Guangdong disclosed that he bought 100t of Indonesian zircon sand 66%min at USD2,130/t CIF China with the cargo arrival in early May from an Indonesian supplier who quoted USD2,200/t but could accept USD2,100/t two weeks ago. "My supplier increased his prices as he got increased orders from Indian clients after Iluka increased prices in early April," disclosed the consumer last Friday. He mentioned that his consumption of Indonesian zircon sand 66%min would shrink by half in April MoM upon the sluggish demand of zirconium silicate in China, and he foresees the mainstream import prices of Indonesian zircon sand 66%min in China would go flat next week.
With an annual consumption capacity of 5,000t, the consumer expects to use around 200t in April, down by around 200t from last month, holding around 300t in stock.
A producer in Indonesia revealed that his current offer of zircon sand 66%min stands at USD2,200/t CIF China with cargo in early May with the discount of USD50t at most for bids, while he quoted USD2,200/t and sold 200t at USD2,100/t two weeks ago. "As Iluka raised prices in Q2 against Q1, I sold around 1,000t in the past two weeks at USD2,200/t CIF India," revealed the producer last Friday. He added that he would hold the export price to China firm upon the active purchases from India and predicts the mainstream export prices of zircon sand 66%min in China would go steady this week despite the sluggish demand in China.
