Chinese indium ingot prices remain steady

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 14 Apr 23 - Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min producers generally insist on their prices at present supported by unchanged prices of crude indium 99%min and soft demand from downstream consumers. Traders generally watch the market without any plan to build stocks. Currently, the mainstream prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min hover at RMB1,430-1,480/kg (USD208-215/kg) EXW D/P, in line with early this week. Market participants believe that the prevailing prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min would stay stable in the coming week considering that most suppliers tend to keep the prices steady with wait-and-see attitudes.
A South-China-based producer mentioned that they offer RMB1,275/kg (USD185/kg) Ex-vat EXW D/P for indium ingot 99.995%min at present and could not accept any lower price for firm bids, unchanged from this Monday and last sold around 800kg at this price early this week. They earlier sold around 1.5t totally last week at the same price last week and prefer to watch the market with stable price in rest days of this week. The source said, "The market keeps so quiet and we only produce depends on orders now, and forecast that the mainstream prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min would remain steady in the following week."
The producer, based on a production capacity of 120tpy of indium ingot 99.995%min, expects to produce around 7.5t this month, in line with March. They hold no stock presently, unchanged from the end of last month. They produced 58t in 2022 and about 20t till now in 2023.
A trader in Southern China noted that they offer RMB1,470/kg (USD214/kg) EXW D/P for indium ingot 99.995%min presently and refuse to sell the materials below RMB1,460/kg (USD212/kg) EXW D/P even for firm bids, the same as the beginning of this week. They last sold around 100kg at RMB1,470/kg (USD214/kg) EXW D/P this Wednesday and earlier sold another 100kg at RMB1,460/kg (USD212/kg) EXW D/P early this week. As producers generally insisted on their prices over the past month, they also prefer to keep the prices steady now. "We are of the opinion that the prevailing prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min would remain unchanged in the upcoming week in view that nothing changed in consumers' demand now," the source said.
With a monthly trading volume of 500kg of indium ingot 99.995%min, the trader expects to sell around 800kg this month and sold about 100kg last month. They keep holding around 200kg of stocks. They sold around 4t in total in 2022 and around 1.5t so far in 2023.
