Chinese fused magnesia prices stable

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 11 Apr 23 - Although the raw materials increased slightly, most suppliers hold their prices unmoved this week due to dim market demand. The current mainstream prices of Chinese fused magnesia MgO 97%min, Ca/Si=1min, B.D. 3.45min, 0-30mm stand stable at RMB3,300-3,400/t (USD480-495/t) EXW D/A 180 days today, unchanged from early last week. As most suppliers had intention to firm their prices unchanged supported by production cost, insiders predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese fused magnesia would keep flat in the forthcoming days.
"We offer RMB3,300/t (USD485/t) EXW D/A 180 days for fused magnesia MgO 97%min, Ca/Si=1min, B.D. 3.45min today and refused any lower price, we sold about 100t today and 50t last Friday respectively at such price," a producer in Inner Mongolia disclosed. Despite soft market, they plan to stick to their current price because they last purchased about 2,000t of magnesite MgO 47.3%min pellet at RMB460/t (USD67/t) delivered from Haicheng late last month. They predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese fused magnesia would flatten out in the forthcoming week.
The producer, with an annual production capacity of 30,000t of fused magnesia, plans to produce about 2,000t this month, identical to last month, holding no inventory currently.
Another Liaoning-based producer noted, "We quoted RMB3,100/t (USD451/t) EXW D/P with no more bargaining for fused magnesia MgO 96.5%min, Ca/Si=1min, B.D. 3.45min today and sold about 50t at such price today". While they sold around another 50t at the same price last Friday. They added that they last purchased about 3,000t of magnesite MgO 47%min (Si 0.7%max; Ca 0.6%max) at RMB320/t (USD47/t) delivered last week, up by RMB10/t (USD1.45/t) from two weeks ago. Their clients didn't accept the price increase despite the slight increase in raw material prices. Therefore, they intend to hold their price unchanged and predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese fused magnesia would stabilize in the upcoming days.
Based on the production capacity of 30,000tpy of fused magnesia, the producer predicts to produce nearly 1,000t in April, similar to last month. They hold no stock now.
