South African chrome ore prices in China keep flat

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 7 April 23 – Most suppliers keep their prices unchanged from early this week due to the quiet market. Currently, the mainstream prices for South African chrome concentrate 40%min stand at RMB54.5-55.5/dmtu (USD7.93-8.07/dmtu) in warehouse Tianjin, unchanged from early this week. Insiders predict the mainstream prices would keep unchanged in the coming three days as most suppliers have no plan to change their prices.
A trader from North China mentioned, "We offer RMB56/dmtu (USD8.14/dmtu) for South African chrome concentrate 40%min with no concession at present, unchanged from early this week". They also noted that the market shows weak demand in the recent three weeks because the customers hold pessimistic attitudes and predict the mainstream prices would decrease in April. They last sold around 1,000t at RMB56/dmtu (USD8.14/dmtu) in early March. Although the market shows weak demand, and they have no plan to decrease their price due to the high quotation from South African miners.
