Chinese niobium oxide market sees inactive inquiries

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 7 Apr 23 - Discouraged by weak demand from downstream consumers, Chinese niobium oxide market witnessed inactive inquiries in the past week. The current mainstream prices of Chinese niobium oxide 99.5%min decreased to RMB298-303/kg (USD43.4-44.1/kg) EXW D/P, down by RMB2/kg (USD0.3/kg) from early last week. As most suppliers plan to lower their prices to promote sales, insiders predict that the Chinese niobium oxide prices would decrease further in the coming week.
"We received two inquiries so far this week, while we received three inquiries last week," said a producer in South China, who offers RMB300/kg (USD43.6/kg) EXW D/P for niobium oxide 99.5%min and could accept RMB298/kg (USD43.4/kg) for orders no less than 5t now, while they insisted on RMB300/kg (USD43.6/kg) for the same quantity early last week. They last sold around 5t at about RMB300/kg (USD43.6/kg) to a regular client early last week. As most consumers remain inactive in sending inquiries, the producer plans to lower their price by around RMB2/kg (USD0.3/kg) next week and predicts that the mainstream prices would decrease by around RMB2/kg (USD0.3/kg) in the coming week.
The producer, with an annual production capacity of 500t, expects to produce around 20t in April, unchanged from last month. They produced nearly 145t in 2022 and almost 50t so far in 2023. They hold around 5t of stocks now, up by 2t from last month.
Another producer in South China noted that they received no inquiry so far this week, while they received one inquiry last week. They quote RMB302/kg (USD43.9/kg) EXW D/P for niobium oxide 99.5%min and could accept RMB300/kg (USD43.6/kg) for orders no less than 2t at present, while they offered RMB305/kg (USD44.4/kg) and could accept RMB302/kg (USD43.9/kg) for the same quantity early last week. "We received an inquiry of 2t from a regular client at around RMB300/kg (USD43.6/kg) early last week, while we refused it," said the producer, who called the client again and finally sold about 2t at around RMB300/kg (USD43.6/kg) to the client early this week as they only received one inquiry in the past two weeks.
