AA Sawit restarts bauxite production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 5 Apr 23 - AA Sawit Sdn Bhd, the present only bauxite producer in Johor of Malaysia, restarted operation from late March and could produce around 1,000tpd now, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We resumed operation late last month and could produce around 1,000tpd now," said the source, adding that they once shut down operation in early March for the heavy flood, with present inventories close to 200,000t. They plan to apply for export license and restart bauxite export from the middle of April.
With the production capacity of 360,000tpy, they produced around 70,000t in 2022 and close to 50,000t so far this year.
Current prevailing prices for bauxite Al2O3 47%min ReSiO2 5%max stand at USD65-66/dt CIF China, unchanged from one week ago. After Indonesia banned bauxite export, the supply reduced in the Asian market.
