Aokaida Chemical restarts normal alumina production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 4 Apr 23 - Shanxi Aokaida Chemical Co., a small alumina producer in Shanxi of China, restarted normal operation in early April and might produce 40,000t this month, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We resumed normal operation early this month and target around 40,000t of alumina production this month," said the source, who produced around 30,000t in March for unexpected maintenance last month. They hold no stock now.
With one production line and the production capacity of 900,000tpy, they produced over 100,000t so far this year and around 500,000t in 2022. Relying on imported bauxite, the alumina producer carries out long term contracts now.
Current mainstream prices for alumina 98.5%min in north China remain at RMB2,900-2,920/t (USD421-424/t) EXW, stable from late last week. As the alumina supply in north China increased, alumina producers keep pessimistic towards the price in April.
