Chinese titanium dioxide suppliers optimistic about the market

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 4 Apr 23 - As most suppliers faced reduced stocks, Chinese rutile titanium dioxide suppliers remained optimistic about the market in the past week. The mainstream prices of Chinese rutile titanium dioxide 93%min hover at RMB16,100-16,600/t (USD2,340-2,413/t) D/A 180 days at present, unchanged from early last week. As current titanium concentrate prices remain firm, insiders predict that the rutile titanium dioxide mainstream prices would keep stable in the coming week.
"Encouraged by higher titanium concentrate prices, we have confidence in the market," said a producer in South China, who quotes RMB16,600/t (USD2,413/t) D/A 180 days for rutile titanium dioxide 93%min and could accept RMB16,500/t (USD2,395/t) for orders no less than 100t at present, the same as early last week. They last sold around 100t to a regular client at around RMB16,500/t (USD2,395/t) early last week. As most suppliers stay in no hurry to sell due to no stock pressures, the producer plans to hold their price stable next week and predicts that the titanium dioxide prices would remain firm in the coming week.
The producer, based on an annual production capacity of 100,000t, produced around 9,000t in March, up by 900t from last month. They produced almost 88,500t in 2022 and around 25,100t so far in 2023. They hold around 5,000t of stocks now, down by 2,000t from last month.
Another producer in South China noted that as titanium concentrate 46%min prices remained at RMB2,400/t (USD348/t) Ex-VAT, they remained optimistic about the market. They offer RMB16,300/t (USD2,366/t) D/A 180 days for rutile titanium dioxide 93%min and could accept RMB16,100/t (USD2,337/t) for orders no less than 30t at the moment, unchanged from early last week. "We face no pressure for stocks and stay in no hurry to sell in spite of watchful attitudes from many clients," said the producer, who last sold around 30t to a regular client at around RMB16,100/t (USD2,337/t) early last week. Considering firm prices for raw materials and reduced stocks, the producer has confidence in the market next week and predicts that the titanium dioxide prices would keep unchanged in the following week.
