Lubei Chemicals to double imported bauxite consumption volume

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 3 Apr 23 - Shandong Lubei Chemicals Co., a major alumina producer in east China, would double the imported bauxite consumption volume to around 600,000t from April, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We will launch the second alumina production line from early April and the imported bauxite consumption volume would double to around 600,000tpm," said the source, who consumed close to 300,000t in March. As Indonesia banned bauxite export, they focus on Guinean bauxite now.
With the annual consumption capacity of 7.2 million tonnes, they used around 3.6 million tonnes in 2022 and around 900,000t so far this year, with present inventories lasting for around three months.
Current mainstream prices for imported bauxite Al2O3 45%min SiO2 3%max keep at USD65-67/dt CIF China, unchanged from late last week. The bauxite supply from Guinea increased after producers raised production.
