BEIJING (Asian Metal) 30 Mar 23 - Chinese gallium metal 99.99%min producers generally began to keep their prices stable with wait-and-see attitudes since early this week and the market movement smoothly. Currently, the mainstream prices of Chinese gallium metal 99.99%min stand at RMB1,550-1,600/kg (USD225-232/kg) EXW D/P, unchanged from this Tuesday. Insiders are of the opinion that the prevailing prices of Chinese gallium metal 99.99%min would tend to stabilized in the coming week considering that most producers refuse to lower the prices to compete for orders now.
A producer in Northern China noted that they insist on RMB1,650/kg (USD240/kg) EXW D/P for gallium metal 99.99%min at present and refuse to lower the price even for firm bids, unchanged from early this week. The source said, "As our gallium metal 99.99%min grade usually could reach to 99.999%min, our price also could higher RMB50/kg (USD7.26/kg) than the price of gallium metal 99.99%min from other producers." They last sold around 1.5t at RMB1,650/kg (USD240/kg) EXW D/P at the end of last week and then watched the market till now in view that their consumers usually would like to bid below RMB1,600/kg (USD232/kg) EXW D/P now. They forecast that the prevailing prices of Chinese gallium metal 99.99%min would stay stable in the following week driven by firm prices from producers presently.
The producer, based on a production capacity of 60tpy of gallium metal 99.99%min, expects to produce about 5t this month, down by about 200kg from last month. They hold no stock now, in line with the end of last month. They produced about 55t in 2022 and around 10t in the past two months in 2023.
Another producer in Northern China stated that they hold back from selling gallium metal 99.99%min with a bottom price of RMB1,650/kg (USD240/kg) EXW D/P at present, the same as this Monday, while did not close any deal in the past three days. They last sold around 1.3t at RMB1,600/kg (USD232/kg) EXW D/P last Friday and prefer to watch the market within this week. "We believe that the mainstream prices of Chinese gallium metal 99.99%min would remain stable in the coming week due to no lower prices from producers now," the source added.
