Chinese calcined bauxite export prices stay steady

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 30 Mar 23 – Despite that the overseas demand stayed weak, most exporters flatten their prices in the past week based on the stable domestic prices
An exporter in Beijing disclosed, "We kept our prices for calcined bauxite Al2O3 86%min 1-3mm Fe2O3 2%max K2O+Na2O 0.45%max B . D . 3.15min stable from early this week at USD430/t Ex-VAT FOB China and could give no discount". Their latest deal dated back to this Monday when they exported about 80t to a client from Southeast Asia at USD470/t . Despite that the domestic prices remain in high position, they determined to keep their price stable given the weak overseas demand and believe that the prevailing export prices of Chinese calcined bauxite would flatten in the coming week.
The exporter, based on a typical monthly trading volume of 300t, expected to export about 280t in March, compared to about 300t last month. They have no stock at present.
Another exporter in Beijing quoted USD440/t Ex-VAT FOB China for calcined bauxite Al2O3 85%min 1-3mm Fe2O3 1.8%max K2O+Na2O 0 . 6%max B . D . 3 . 1min max and could make no concession, in line with early this week. "We concluded our latest deal early last week when we sold about 280t at USD440/t to a European client", the exporter revealed . Despite the dormant overseas market demand, they make up their mind to hold firm their current prices in light of the fact that their domestic suppliers refused to make concessions and believe that the prevailing export prices of Chinese calcined bauxite would keep stable in the following week.
With a regular monthly trading volume of 1,000t, they predict to sell about 1,000t in March, while they have no orders in February. Currently they have no inventory.
