Chinese HC ferrochrome suppliers hold watchful attitudes

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 27 Mar 23 – Most suppliers hold watchful attitudes towards the market outlook and keep their prices unchanged from early this week. Currently, the mainstream prices for HC ferrochrome Cr52%min C8%max Si5%max stand at RMB9,000-9,200/t (USD1,308-1,337/t) EXW D/P, in line with early this week. Insiders predict the mainstream prices would keep unchanged in the coming week as most suppliers hold watchful attitudes and prefer to wait for the purchase prices of steel mills.
A producer from South China disclosed, "We hold watchful attitudes towards the market prices and would wait for the purchase prices of steel mills". They quote RMB9,500/t (USD1,381/t) EXW D/P for HC ferrochrome Cr52%min C8%max Si1.5%max and could accept the price as low as RMB9,400/t (USD1,366/t) EXW D/P at present, unchanged from early this week. They last sold around 60t at RMB9,400/t (USD1,366/t) EXW D/P early this week. They explained that they could not decrease their price because of the high prices of chrome ore, and they received the South African chrome concentrate 40%min price at RMB55-56/dmtu (USD7.99- 8.14/dmtu) this week. They predict the mainstream prices would keep unchanged in the coming week.
The producer, with an annual production capacity of 15,000t of HC ferrochrome Cr52%min C8%max Si1.5%max, predicts to produce around 800t in March, unchanged from last month. They have no stock at present. They produced around 2,400t so far in 2023.
A producer from North China mentioned, "We hold watchful attitudes and predict the mainstream prices would keep flat in the coming week". They offer RMB9,100/t (USD1,322/t) EXW D/P for HC ferrochrome Cr52%min C8%max Si5%max and could accept the price RMB9,000/t (USD1,308/t) EXW D/P at present, in line with early this week. They last sold around 30t at RMB9,000/t (USD1,308/t) EXW D/P early this week. They have no plan to change their price and estimate the mainstream prices would keep flat in the following week.
