Chinese calcined bauxite export prices stay steady

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 27 Mar 23 – Although the overseas market demand stayed in low level, most exporters kept their prices steady this week encouraged by the firm domestic prices
An exporter in Tianjin disclosed, "We kept our quotation for calcined bauxite Al2O3 86%min 1-3mm Fe2O3 2%max K2O+Na2O 0.45%max B . D . 3.15min stable from early this week at USD480/t FOB China and could accept a concession as much as USD10/t". Their last deal dated back to this Monday when they sold out about 500t to a European client at USD470/t.
Despite that the domestic prices remain high, they made decision to keep their price unchanged considering the weak overseas demand and hold the view that the prevailing export prices of Chinese calcined bauxite would stay stable in the coming week.
The exporter, based on a typical monthly trading volume of 2,000t, expected to export about 2,000t in March, in line with last month. They have no stock at present.
Another exporter in Qingdao quoted USD325/t Ex-VAT FOB China for calcined bauxite Al2O3 80%min 1-3mm Fe2O3 2.5%max K2O+Na2O 0 . 6%max B . D . 2 . 8min max and could give no discount, in line with early this week. "We completed our last deal early this week when we sold about 80t at USD325/t to a client from South Korea", the exporter disclosed . In spite of the dormant overseas market demand, they consider to keeping their current prices unchanged given that their domestic suppliers refused to lower prices and expect that the prevailing export prices of Chinese calcined bauxite would stay stable in the following week.
With a regular monthly trading volume of 200t, they predict to sell about 200t in March, compared to about 180t in February. Currently they have no inventory.
