Spring Energy restarts bauxite production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 22 Mar 23 - Spring Energy Sdn Bhd, a major bauxite producer in Kuantan of Malaysia, restarted production in the middle of last month and plans to produce close to 30,000t in March, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We resumed operation from the middle of last month and plan to produce close to 30,000t this month," said the source, who produced over 10,000t in February and holds over 50,000t of bauxite Al2O3 47%min SiO2 4%max in stock now.
With the production capacity of 1.8 million tonnes per year, they were out of production in 2022 and produced around 200,000t in 2021.
Current mainstream import prices for bauxite Al2O3 47%min SiO2 4%max keep at USD65-66/dt CIF China, stable from one week ago. After the rainy season in Malaysia, local bauxite producers restarted production.
