Chinese indium ingot market runs slowly

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 21 Mar 23 - Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min market ran slowly over the past week as most downstream consumers refused to purchase more materials with soft demand and enough stocks. Currently, the mainstream prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min hover at RMB1,420-1,470/kg (USD206-214/kg) EXW D/P, unchanged from the end of last week. Market participants believe that the prevailing prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min would stay stable within this week supported by unchanged prices from producers.
A South-China-based producer noted that they did not close any deal of indium ingot 99.995%min this Monday and hold few confidences within this week in view of wait-and-see attitudes from downstream consumers. However, they still could sell around 2t last week, when they last sold at RMB1,450/kg (USD211/kg) EXW D/P. Supported by firm prices of crude indium 99%min, they also insist on RMB1,450/kg (USD211/kg) EXW D/P for indium ingot 99.995%min now, unchanged from the end of last week. The source said, "As our consumers keep in no hurry to purchase, we are of the opinion that the prevailing prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min would stay firm in rest days of this week."
The producer, based on a production capacity of 200tpy of indium ingot 99.995%min, expects to produce around 9t this month and produced about 8t in February. They hold no stock presently, unchanged from the end of last month. They produced about 67t in 2022 and around 16t so far in 2023.
"We did not close any deal of indium ingot 99.995%min over the past two weeks as our consumers generally consume the stock now," another producer in Southern China disclosed, adding that they expect to close few deals within this week as their consumers still watch the market presently. They offer RMB1,470/kg (USD214/kg) EXW D/P for indium ingot 99.995%min at present and could not accept any lower price even for firm bids, in line with late last week. They last sold around 2.5t at RMB1,490/kg (USD217/kg) EXW D/P early March. They forecast that the prevailing prices of Chinese indium ingot 99.995%min would remain steady within this week due to firm prices from producers now.
The producer, with a production capacity of 150tpy of indium ingot 99.995%min, expects to produce about 12t this month, up by about 5t from last month. They hold no inventory now, in line with the end of last week. They produced about 85t totally in 2022 and around 15t till now in 2023.
