Huayin Aluminum finishes the 1st stage dissolution system reform

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 14 Mar 23 - Guangxi Huayin Aluminum Co., a major alumina producer in south China, finished the reform on the first stage dissolution system in late February and would start operation soon in March, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We finished the reform on the first stage dissolution system late last month and will take time to launch operation soon in March," said the source, adding that the alumina production will keep stable at around 180,000t this month. The second stage reform will be finished by late this year.
With five dissolution systems and the total production capacity of 2.3 million tonnes per year, they will shift to two big dissolution systems, which could be flexible both for Chinese origin bauxite and imported bauxite and the alumina production capacity will keep stable. They produced over 400,000t so far this year and over 2 million tonnes in 2022.
Present mainstream prices for alumina 98.5%min in south China keep at RMB2,840-2,870/t (USD413-417/t) EXW, stable from late last week. As aluminum smelters in Yunnan cut production, the demand for alumina becomes weak now.
