BEIJING (Asian Metal) 10 Mar 23 - Due to the weak demand and tight spot supply, the current mainstream prices of ferrosilicon 75%min 10-50mm in Europe hover at EUR1,750-1,850/t (USD1,850-1,956/t) in warehouse Rotterdam, unchanged from early last week. Insiders forecast Europe will maintain the similar situation next week and prices of ferrosilicon 75%min 10-50mm in Europe would go steady next week.
A trader in East Europe disclosed that he sold 60t of ferrosilicon 75%min 10-50mm at EUR1,850/t (USD1,956/t) D.D.P covered the logistic of EUR30/t (USD32/t) this week, and he insisted on the same prices early last week. "The demand from steel mills remains sluggish upon the overall weak economic environment, and the supply from Brazil also turns tight as Brazilian suppliers sold out almost all output unitl May," revealed the trader on Thursday. Given the weak demand and tight supply, he foresees the mainstream prices of ferrosilicon 75%min 10-50mm in Europe would maintain the similar level next week.
With a regular monthly trading amount of 300t for ferrosilicon, the trader foresees to sell around 200t in March, down by about 100t, holding around 200t in stock.
A consumer in Central Europe revealed that he bought 90t of ferrosilicon 75%min 10-50mm at EUR1,800/t (USD1,903/t) D.D.P covered the transport of EUR40/t (USD42/t) this week from a supplier who insisted on the same price early last week. "Most suppliers turned reluctant to mark prices down upon the tight supply from international suppliers," revealed the consumer on Thursday. He added that he would decrease consumption in March against February, while he believes the mainstream prices of ferrosilicon 75%min 10-50mm in Europe would keep stable upon the firm offers from suppliers.
The consumer, based on an annual consumption capacity for ferrosilicon of around 2,500t, predicts to consume around 150t this month, down by around 50t from last month, holding around 200t in stock.
