Chinese fused magnesia prices steady

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 9 Mar 23 - Considering dim market but high production costs, most suppliers hold their prices unmoved this week. Therefore, the current mainstream prices of Chinese fused magnesia 0-30mm, MgO 97.5%min, Ca/Si=2min, B.D. 3.5min stand stable at RMB5,400-5,600/t (USD774-803/t) EXW D/A 180 days from early this week. In view of thin profit and sluggish demand, insiders prefer to hold their prices firm and predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese fused magnesia would stay steady in the week to come.
A producer in Xiuyan said, "We quoted RMB5,400/t (USD774/t) EXW D/P and refused any lower price for fused magnesia MgO 97.5%min, Ca/Si=2min, B.D. 3.5min, 120-200mm since the beginning of this week", while they received no inquiry today and last sold about 100t at such price on Monday. They last purchased about 3,000t of caustic calcined magnesia MgO 97.2%min at RMB1,800/t (USD258/t) EXW D/P from Xiuyan early this month, so they plan to stick to their current price and predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese fused magnesia would remain stable in the forthcoming week.
With a production capacity of 15,000tpy, the producer estimates to produce around 1,000t in March, similar to last month. They have an inventory of almost 500t now.
"We offer RMB5,400/t (USD774/t) EXW D/A 180 days for fused magnesia MgO 97.5%min, Ca/Si=2min, B.D. 3.5min, lump with no concession from early this week", revealed another producer in Liaoning, adding that they last sold nearly 200t at such price late last week. Supported by high production cost, they intend to hold the price stable and believe that the mainstream prices of Chinese fused magnesia would keep flat in the coming week.
Based on an annual production capacity of 70,000tpy, they expect to produce approximately 1,500t in March, compared with about 1,000t last month as they resumed in mid February. They hold around 1,000t of stocks at present.
