BEIJING (Asian Metal) 8 Mar 23 – Given dim market but high production costs, most suppliers hold their prices firm this week. Therefore, the current mainstream prices of Chinese fused magnesia MgO 97%min, Ca/Si=2min, B
A producer in Yingkou said, "We offer RMB3,200/t (USD461/t) EXW D/P for fused magnesia MgO 97%min, Ca/Si=2min, B.D . 3 . 40minmin, 250-300mm today and could accept no concession, unchanged from last Friday" . They closed no deal today and last sold around 500t at such price early last week . They predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese fused magnesia would go down in the forthcoming week due to the sluggish demand from the end market even though they last purchased about 4,000t of magnesite MgO 47%min, SiO2 0 . 5%max, Fe2O3 0.5%max at RMB280/t (USD40/t) delivered from Haicheng late last month.
The producer, with an annual production capacity of 30,000t of fused magnesia, predicts to produce nearly 2,000t in March, similar to last month. They have no inventory at present.
Another producer from Dashiqiao said, "We quoted RMB3,400/t (US490/t) EXW D/A 180 days and considered no concession for fused magnesia MgO 97%min, Ca/Si=2min, B.D . 3 . 45min, 0-30mm since last Friday", adding that they received no inquiry after they sold approximately 200t at such price early last week" . Although the cost of electricity remains at RMB0 . 5-0.6/kwh (USD0 . 07-0.09/kwh), they predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese fused magnesia would fall in the following week because of the dim market.
Based on the production capacity of 80,000tpy of fused magnesia, the producer predicts to produce approximately 2,000t in March, compared with around 1,800t last month. They hold nearly 1,000t of stocks now.
