Russia's coal output down by 1.8% YOY in Jan

Data released by Росстата indicated that Russia's coal output was 437 million tons in 2022, up by 0.4% YOY. In particular, the output of thermal coal was 218 million tons, down by 7.1% YOY; that of coking coal was 105 million tons, up by 4.5% YOY; that of anthracite coal was 24.40 million tons, down by 3.5% YOY; that of lignite coal was 89.40 million tons, up by 19.7% YOY.
In January 2023, Russia's coal output stood at 34.90 million tons, declining by 1.8% YOY and 19.3% MOM. In particular, the output of thermal coal was 26.30 million tons, down by 7.2% YOY and 21.1% MOM; that of coking coal was 7.8 million tons, down by 20.2% MOM; that of anthracite coal was 2.1 million tons, down by 10.1% YOY but up by 4.0% MOM; that of lignite coal was 8.6 million tons, up by 19.2% YOY but down by 13.2% MOM.

In particular, the output of thermal coal was 26.30 million tons, down by 7.2% YOY and 21.1% MOM; that of coking coal was 7.8 million tons, down by 20.2% MOM; that of anthracite coal was 2.1 million tons, down by 10.1% YOY but up by 4.0% MOM; that of lignite coal was 8.6 million tons, up by 19.2% YOY but down by 13.2% MOM.
