BEIJING (Asian Metal) 3 Mar 23 - Alufer Mining, a major bauxite producer in Guinea, schedules to hold a 'reopening' ceremony on March 3 and it's first vessel of bauxite with around 180,000t would finish loading by this weekend, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We are going to hold a reopening ceremony on March 3, before finishing the first vessel loading by this weekend," said the source, who started loading the first vessel with around 180,000t from last weekend. The second vessel loading will begin quickly from early next week, noted the source . The company once halted operation in April, 2021 for the sluggish market and restarted from October 2022 after shareholder reshuffling.
With the annual production capacity of 6 million tonnes, they would produce around 400,000t in March, similar to February and hold over 1.5 million tonnes in stock now . They produced less than 1 million tonnes in 2022 and target around 5 million tonnes in 2023.
Present mainstream prices for Guinean bauxite Al2O3 45%min SiO2 3%max keep at USD66-68/dt CIF China, down by USD0.5/dt from two weeks ago . As the bauxite supply increased, producers cut offers and buyers keep cautious.
