Nanshan Aluminum stops aluminum alloy A356.2 production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 1 Mar 23 - Shandong Nanshan Aluminum Co., Ltd., one of the major aluminum alloy A356.2 producers in northern China, stopped production on March 1 and produced about 2,000t in February.
"We stopped production on March 1 and will not resume production in the future, and the production equipment will be dismantled one after another. We produced about 2,000t of aluminum alloy A356.2 in February, up from about 1,500t in January," a source from the company said, adding that they operated two smelting furnaces before the shutdown.
With an annual production capacity of about 80,000t, the company produced about 20,000t in 2022. They mainly produce aluminum liquid and hold no stock now.
On Tuesday, mainstream prices for Chinese aluminum ingot 99.7%min in warehouse Shanghai stood at RMB18,260-18,360/t (USD2,649-2,663/t) EXW D/P, down by RMB10/t (USD1.45/t) from Monday. Insiders said that the demand for aluminum ingot is weak at present, and consumers have less interest in replenishing stocks, so prices for Chinese aluminum ingot 99.7%min might fluctuate at a low level in the coming week.
