WBMS: Global nickel market records supply deficit of 75.5kt in Jan-Aug 2022

According to data released by the World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS) on October 19, the global nickel market was in supply deficit of 75,500 tons in January-August 2022, compared with 179,300 tons of supply shortage in the whole year of 2021
From January to August 2022, global refined nickel production totaled 1.8949 million tonnes while the demand recorded 1 . 9705 million tonnes; and global nickel production of mines in the period was 2,016,800 tonnes, up by 256,000 tonnes YoY.
In the first eight months of this year, global apparent demand for nickel increased by 76,800 tonnes YoY.
Global nickel production and demand in August posted 257,800 tonnes and 287,200 tonnes respectively.
