Shanghai accelerates push for non-silicon-based semiconductor materials development

Shanghai will advance the development of wide-bandgap semiconductor compounds such as SiC and GaN, further raise wide-bandgap semiconductor compounds crystal production technology level and expand production scale, promote wide-bandgap semiconductor wafer manufacturing technology, enhance the design capability of wide-bandgap semiconductor chip products and broaden the application of such products, according to an action plan issued by the city on October 11.

Shanghai also vows to accelerate the push for technical studies and production of carbon-based chip materials including graphene and carbon nano tube, as well as non-silicon-based semiconductor materials such as two-dimensional materials.
