GACC: China's exports of steel products up by 47.2% YoY in May

Data released by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC) showed that China exported about 7.76 million tons of steel products in May 2022, up by about 2.78 million tons from the previous month and 47.2% from the same period last year. From January to May, China's exports of steel products totaled about 25.92 million tons, down by 16.2% YoY.
In May, China imported 806,000t of steel products, down by 150,000t from the prior month and 33.4% from the same period last year. From January to May, China's imports of steel products totaled 4.98 million tons, down by 18.3% YoY.
China imported about 92.52 million tons of iron ore and ore concentrate in May, up by about 6.46 million tons from the previous month and 3.0% from the same period last year. From January to May, China imported a total of about 447 million tons of iron ore and ore concentrate, a decline of 5.1% YoY.
In May, China imported about 20.55 million tons of coal and lignite, down by 3 million tons MoM and 2.3% YoY. From January to May, the total imports of coal and lignite posted about 95.96 million tons, down by 13.6% YoY.
