Hebei releases energy conservation and emission reduction scheme during 14th Five-Year Plan period

Recently, the People's Government of Hebei Province issued the "implementation plan for energy conservation and emission reduction in Hebei Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan period". According to the plan, the province should strictly control coal consumption and promote clean coal utilization, meanwhile strictly examine and approve coal-related projects in accordance with laws and regulations, and replace coal consumption of new projects with less or equal volume. By 2025, the total scale of coal power generation should be kept at around 51 million kw, and non-fossil energy should account for more than 13% of total energy consumption.
Ten key projects were formulated, including green transformation of key industries, energy conservation and environmental protection improvement of industrial parks, comprehensive treatment of volatile organic compounds, and so on. The goal is to significantly improve energy utilization efficiency in key areas and industries, and reduce energy consumption and coal consumption per area by 14.5% and 10% respectively compared with 2020.
