NBS: China's coal consumption up by 4.6% YOY in 2021

On February 28, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released the 2021 National Economic and Social Development Statistical Bulletin of the People's Republic of China.
According to preliminary calculations, China produced 4.13 billion tons of raw coal in 2021, an increase of 5 . 7% over the previous year . The total annual energy consumption was 5 . 24 billion tons of standard coal, up by 5 . 2% against last year . Coal consumption increased by 4 . 6% year-on-year, and coal consumption accounted for 56 . 0% of the total energy consumption, down by 0 . 9 percentage point from the previous year; the consumption of natural gas, hydropower, nuclear power, wind power, solar power and other clean energy accounted for 25 . 5% of the total energy consumption, up by 1 . 2 percentage points.
