Indonesia's coal exports increase by 6% YOY in H1

According to statistics released by BPS-Statistics Indonesia on July 30, Indonesia's coal exports increased significantly in May 2021. In May, its coal exports reached 37.019 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 26.0% and a month-on-month increase of 11.7%. In January-May, Indonesia's coal exports totaled 176.581 million tons, an increase of 464,000 tons or 0.3% over the same period of the previous year, achieving a positive cumulative increase in coal exports for the first time this year.
Specifically, anthracite exports stood at 491,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 43.5%; coking coal exports arrived at 10.931 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 7.9%; other bituminous coal exports reached 19.765 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.3%; other coal exports reached 110.194 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 2.3%; lignite exports reached 3,520 tons, a year-on-year increase of 8.1%.
