Russia's coal production and sales up by 8.6% and 18.6% YOY respectively in H1

According to the statistics released by the Ministry of Energy, from January to June 2021, the cumulative coal production was 212 million tons, an increase of about 16.72 million tons or 8.6% over the same period last year. Coal exports totaled 105 million tons, an increase of about 16.41 million tons or 18.6% YOY.
In June, the coal production was about 32.79 million tons, up by about 1.05 million tons or 3.3% YOY. Coal exports were about 19.03 million tons, up by about 2.90 million tons or 18.0% YOY.
In the first half of this year, Russia transported 632.7 million tons of goods through railway, up by 4.6% from the same period last year. Among them, Russia transported 185.5 million tons of coal, up by 10.4% over the same period last year. Coal is the first bulk cargo transported by Russian railways, accounting for 29.3% of the total cargo transported by Russian railways.
