India's coal output up by 1.7% YOY in H1

According to the preliminary statistics released by the Ministry of Coal of India, the country produced around 54.41 million tons of coal (coal and lignite) in June 2021, up by 4.00 million tons or 7.9% compared with last June, but down by 1.95 million tons or 3.4% compared with this May. Specifically, CIL produced 40.02 million tons of coal, up by 1.99% YOY; SCCL saw a coal output of 5.27 million tons, up by 61.08% YOY. The total output of lignite reached around 3.43 million tons, up by 13.22% YOY.
From January to June, India recorded a total coal output of 415 million tons, up by 6.80 million tons or 1.7% YOY. In particular, CIL produced 327 million tons of coal, down by 2.2% YOY; SCCL produced around 33.49 million tons, up by 25.1% YOY. The lignite coal output reached around 16.39 million tons, down by 0.7% YOY.
