According to information from the Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM), the country sued Australia for anti-dumping and anti-countervailing measures on railway hubs, wind towers and stainless steel sinks imported from China under the dispute settlement mechanism of WTO.
Gao Feng, the spokesperson of MOFCOM, noted that Australia took or extended anti-dumping measures on railway hubs and wind towers imported from China respectively in 2019 and extended anti-dumping and anti-countervailing measures on stainless steel sinks imported from China in 2020. In these three cases, methods taken by Australia for confirming dumping and countervailing violated the Anti-Dumping Agreement and the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures of WTO.
Gao Feng said that China hopes Australia to take practical actions, correct wrongdoings, avoid distortions on trade of relevant products and make trade back on track as early as possible.
