Baixing to resume expansible graphite production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 30 Apr 21 - As the biggest expansible graphite producer in China, Qingdao Baixing Graphite Co. halted production due to the environmental inspection in early April, and plan to resume production on 6 May.
"We halted production about three weeks ago due to the environmental inspection and plan to resume production on 6 May as the environmental inspection would end in a week," a source from the company disclosed, adding that they have no inventory at present. As the prices of large flake graphite remained flat, they have no intention to lift the prices for stable sales and believe that the mainstream prices of Chinese expansible graphite would keep steady in the coming week.
Based on a production capacity of 30,000tpy, they produced about 16,000t in 2020 and already produced about 4,000t so far in 2021. They expect to produce about 2,000t in May, unchanged from March. Now they have no inventory, down by about 500t from late last month.
The current mainstream prices of Chinese expansible graphite 99 80 250 stand at RMB11,500-12,000/t (USD1,782-1,860/t) Inc-VAT EXW D/A 180 days, unchanged from early last week.
