Tata Steel Mining Limited (TSML), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Steel, is planning to double its ferrochrome manufacturing capacity in India to 900,000 tonnes a year.
The idea behind the initiative is to use the chromite ore optimally to make ferrochrome and serve its growing base of Indian and global customers making stainless steel, Tata Steel said.
"This will make TSML the top ferrochrome player in India and among the top five globally," Tata Steel added.
