Yunnan Germanium decreases germanium metal production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 7 Apr 21 - One of major Chinese germanium metal 99.99%min producers, Yunnan Lincang Xinyuan Germanium Industry Co., Ltd. produced around 2.2t of germanium metal 99.99%min in March, down by about 800kg from February, a source from the company disclosed to Asian Metal.
The source said, "Due to increasing prices of hydrochloric acid and tight supply of germanium concentrates, we only produced about 2.2t of germanium metal 99.99%min in March and expect to produce less than 2t this month, but we usually produce around 3t a month in 2020." They offer RMB7,800/kg (USD1,191/kg) EXW D/P for germanium metal 99.99%min at present and refuse to accept lower prices even for firm bids. Due to active inquiries in the spot market, they believe that the prices would show the uptrend in the coming week.
The producer, based on a production capacity of 60tpy of germanium metal 99.99%min, produced about 45t in 2020 and expect to produce the same volume in 2021. They produced about 6.8t since early January. They hold no stocks now, unchanged from the end of last month.
Currently, the mainstream prices of germanium metal 99.99%min increase to RMB6,950-7,350/kg (USD1,061-1,122/kg) EXW D/P, up by RMB50/kg (USD7.64/kg) from the end of last week. Suppliers generally mark up the prices further and downstream consumers purchased by orders. The market runs smoothly.
