According to Yingtan Customs, Chinese authorities including the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and General Administration of Customs jointly stipulated that recycling materials for brass, recycling materials for copper and recycling materials for cast aluminum that meet relevant national standards will no longer be included in the list of solid waste, and can be imported without restrictions starting on November 1, 2020.
Yingtan has annual demand for nearly 200,000t of secondary copper. Before the stipulation was announced, Yingtan-based companies imported less than 20,000t of the material every year, just accounting for one tenth of the demand.
Yingtan Customs said that the implementation of the stipulation will greatly benefit a number of local copper processing companies and it alone would help these companies save raw material costs of about RMB300 million (USD46.38 million).
