Inner Mongolia Xianghuangqi Zhongxin Metallurgy to produce high titanium slag

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 24 Sep 20 - Inner Mongolia Xianghuangqi Zhongxin Metallurgy Co., Ltd, who acts as a new high titanium slag producer in North China, plans to produce high titanium slag in mid-October with an annual production capacity of 7,200t. The plant would expect to reach full operating rate in early 2021.
"At present, we are transforming two 1800KVA stoves to produce high titanium slag and we would begin trial production after the National Day holiday. We would adjust the production volume according to actual orders from clients later. The production capacity of each stove will reach about 300tpm," said a source from the company, adding that as the local electricity charge in Inner Mongolia is only RMB0.42-0.43/kWh while the local electricity charge in Liaoning is about RMB0.50-0.52/kWh, they have big advantage to produce high titanium slag in Inner Mongolia with lower production cost on electricity aspect.
The company started their business in 2005 and it used to produce ferronickel in the past. However, they decided to turn to produce high titanium slag this year with a designed production capacity of 7,200t. It would start trial production after the National Day holiday in mid-October and reach full operating rate in early 2021.
Mainstream prices of Chinese high titanium slag 90%min hover at RMB5,400-5,600/t (USD810-840/t) EXW D/A 180 days at present, unchanged from early last week.
