Kaixiang Fine Chemicals produces approximately 1,000 tons of scrap copper-bismuth catalyst per annum during the production of 1,4-Butanediol, but 30% of effective components couldn't be recycled due to lack of recycling process and were sent to qualified enterprises for processing as hazardous waste. After completion, the project can save around RMB6 million (USD0 . 88 million) per annum for the company in terms of catalyst procurement, realizing recycling of resources.
