Kaixiang Fine Chemicals puts scrap copper-bismuth catalyst recycling project into pilot production

Recently, Henan Kaixiang Fine Chemicals Co. Ltd. put its scrap copper-bismuth catalyst recycling project into pilot production.
Co-developed by Kaixiang Fine Chemicals and Xi'an Aerospace Yuan Dongli Engineering, the project with a total investment of RMB30 million (USD4.38 million) broke ground in March 2020 and went into pilot operation at the end of August. The construction period was one month shorter than the schedule.
Kaixiang Fine Chemicals produces approximately 1,000 tons of scrap copper-bismuth catalyst per annum during the production of 1,4-Butanediol, but 30% of effective components couldn't be recycled due to lack of recycling process and were sent to qualified enterprises for processing as hazardous waste. After completion, the project can save around RMB6 million (USD0.88 million) per annum for the company in terms of catalyst procurement, realizing recycling of resources.
