Vietnam's imports of iron and steel scrap from Japan hit record high in Feb

Encouraged by the competitive price from Japan early this year, Vietnam's imports of iron and steel scrap from Japan hit a record high in February 2020.
According to data from Vietnam Customs, in February, Vietnam imported almost twice as much iron and steel scrap from Japan as that in the same period last year and the import volume reached 354,406t, accounting for 65% of the total import volume. In February, the imports from Japan rose by 147 . 5% compared with that of January and by 197 . 2% compared with that of February 2019.
In February, Vietnam's total import volume of iron and steel scrap increased by 152% compared with that of the same period of last year and by 55% compared with 545,933t of this January. From January to February, the total import volume increased by 85 . 5% YOY to 897,697t.
