The European Union is assessing the inclusion of five new minerals in critical mineral lists
The EU launched its critical minerals list in 2011, updated every three years and last updated in 2017. It plans to update its list of critical minerals in 2020.
At present, the EU's critical minerals include 27 mineral raw materials. The U . S . announced 35 critical minerals in 2018, and Japan released 30 strategic minerals in 2012.
In November, the U.S . , the EU and Japan will hold a meeting in Brussels to discuss critical mineral resources.
. The five minerals are arsenic, cadmium, hydrogen, strontium and zirconium .
