Baosteel builds family brand of high-strength and light-weighting steel for automobiles

Baosteel under China Baowu released new information that Baosteel has become the first iron and steel enterprise that can supply high-strength steel products from the first generation to the third generation around the world. Baosteel's high-strength steel products with tensile strength higher than 1,000MPa can be used in lightweight of automobiles and has formed its "family brand". Baosteel officially releases these products to the public.
It is said that high-strength steel for automobiles with tensile strength higher than 1,000MPa of Baosteel belongs to X-GPa brand. In general, Baosteel's X-GPa series steel can help reduce the weight of automobiles by 10% and increase the fuel efficiency by 6%-8%.
Yao Linlong, the deputy general manager of Baosteel, noted that after years of development for new products, Baosteel can produce the world first ultra high-strength steel products with QP steel as a representative. The sales are higher than 400,000tpy. At present, application market of automobile panel has new demand in aspects such as green, safety and cost. Baosteel's X-GPa series steel will help start a new trend in material selection for lightweight of automobiles globally.
