Daye Nonferrous Metals announces selling prices for crude selenium

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 12 Oct 19 - Daye Nonferrous Metals Co., Ltd. invited bids this Wednesday for crude selenium and finally sold 40t at RMB50,000/t (USD7,055/t).
A source from the company disclosed, "Currently, the production capacity of crude selenium is large and the supply is sufficient, while downstream demand for selenium products is limited, so selenium powder and selenium dioxide producers actively depressed their purchase prices for crude selenium. In order to ease the inventory pressure, we sold lots of crude selenium in the bids in September and October." He imported around 70t of selenium in August, down by around 50t from July, which was beneficial for the sales of domestic selenium products. Daye Nonferrous Metals is one of the earliest copper industrial bases in China, with an annual copper plate mining and ore processing capacity of 5 million tons, an annual cathode copper production capacity of 700,000t, and an annual copper processing capacity of 300,000t. The crude selenium grade of the company is 85%min, and the annual production capacity is 320t. The company produced about 20t last month, and expects the same volume this month. Its annual output of crude selenium is about 300t in 2018, and it produced around 200t from January to September 2019.
Currently, mainstream prices for Chinese selenium dioxide 98%min are RMB52-57/kg (USD7.34-8.04/kg), down by RMB3/kg (USD0.42/kg) from early this week.
