Annual coal consumption of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei to total 300 million tons by 2020

On November 2, Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform publicized Coordinated Action Plan on Energy between Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei (2017-2020), which came along as the first joint action plan on energy between the three regions. According to the plan, by 2020 annual coal consumption of the three regions will total around 300 million tons
Previous data show that by 2016, the annual coal consumption of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei totaled 400 million tons. So this action plan means that in the coming three years, annual coal consumption of the three regions will drop by 25%. Of the 400 million tons of annual coal consumed at present, Beijing accounts for less than 10 million tons; that is to say, Tianjin and Hebei will face bigger proportions in their coal consumption cuts in the future.
