AM Statistics: Chinese nickel sulfate output up by 3.1% MOM in July

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 10 Aug 17 - According to Asian Metal Database, China produced around 26,350t of nickel sulfate in July, up by 3.1% MOM, and up by 20.7% YOY. China produced around 159,650t of nickel sulfate from January to July, up by around 12.3% YOY.

Chinese nickel sulfate output by month
During July, as the downstream NCM precursor price continuously went up with the good market, some consumers from Zhejiang and Guangdong province purchased more nickel sulfate to raise the output in July. The demand for nickel sulfate became strong, and one nickel sulfate producer in Guangdong province raised their output by around 20%MOM to full capacity in July, which directly led to the fact that the output in Guangdong increased by 4.1% MOM to around 8,400t, and an increase by 20.7 YOY, ranking in the first place. Jilin produced around 4,100t of nickel sulfate in July, up by roughly 2.6% MOM, followed by Jiangsu with the figure at around 1950t, and up by around 2.5% MOM, and they respectively ranked in the second and third place.

Entering into August, as the LME Ni price goes up sharply, the downstream NCM precursor plants would like to purchase more nickel sulfate to avoid the price increase risk, and some nickel sulfate producers from South China will plan to raise the output. Market participants anticipated that the output of nickel sulfate in August is expected to edge up further.
