Manchuria port sees coal imports from Russia up by 5.6 times

According to the statistics from Manchuria Customs released on 3 August, in H1 of 2017, 735,000t of coal were imported from Russia via Manchuria port, up by 5
Russian coal is of high heating and low impurities and its prices are lower than the domestic ones; therefore, it has attracted many companies’ attention.
It is reported that more than 90% of imports in the port this year are general trade and the main importing material is other bituminous coal, accounting for 92.1% of the total imports.
Analysts pointed out that coal prices became reasonable gradually in 2017. Affected by production limitation and safety rectification in China, the domestic coal market was sluggish but coal prices had been on the rise, resulting in an expanding spread between the imported prices and domestic ones.
