First ship of Indonesian origin lateritic nickel ore arrives at Lianyungang

On 1 May 2017, Mv.JIN YUN loaded with 50,800t of Indonesian origin lateritic nickel ore successively moored alongside Berth No. 81 of Liangyungang Donglian Port Company, indicating that the first ship of nickel ore from Indonesia smoothly arrived at domestic ports since the export banning of Indonesia on 12 January 2014.
The material was consigned by Zhenshi Holding Group and shipped by Jiangsu Uni-benefit International Logistics Co., Ltd.
Indonesia is abundant with lateritic nickel ore, with exports of the material ranking first around the world. The government issued the new Mining Law in 2014 to ban raw ore exports including lateritic nickel ore, which impacted the stability of the international nickel ore market to some extent. Recently, the government published new regulations of exporting nickel ore; that is allowing enterprises, which own mining right in the country and have constructed smelting plants, to export lateritic nickel ore. It is learned that Zhenshi Holding Group has obtained the mining right and established ferronickel smelting projects in Indonesia by overseas layout.
