Nalco to form JV with NINL for producing coal tar pitch

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 9 Feb 2017 - National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco) has inked a MoU with Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) to set up a joint-venture (JV) company for producing Coal Tar Pitch. The agreement is part of the new business plan of Nalco to ensure backward integration and sustain the plans for forward integration.
According to the plan, the proposed joint venture company will set up a Coal Tar Distillation plant which will use Coal Tar generated from NINL’s Coke Oven plant at its 1.1 million tonne per year integrated iron & steel plant at Kalinga Nagar in Duburi. Nalco stated this week that NINL will prepare a techno-economic feasibility report for the JV project, but didn’t disclose any details related to the investment.
