Laiwu Steel moves down H-beam steel export price

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 23 May 16 - Shandong province-based steel maker Laiwu Steel Group, Ltd, a major section steel prouder in East China moved down its H-beam steel export prices as a result of lower raw material prices as well as the weak oversea demand. The mill has no strong confidence in the H-beam steel export market outlook.
A source from Laiwu Steel revealed that the current export price for H-beam steel SS400 200mm*200mm is USD390/t FOB Qingdao Port, falling by USD20/t compared with that of two weeks ago.
The source told Asian Metal that Laiwu Steel’s ex-works price decreased a lot in past several weeks as a result of lower raw material prices and the export price went down accordingly. According to him, the price of steel billet has decreased by RMB400/t (USD61/t) to RMB1,980/t (USD303/t) since the end of April. Moreover, oversea buyers are cautious about placing orders considering the frequent price decrease in China. He reported an export volume of 15,000t in April and worries that it may decease to 10,000t by the end of this month.
Currently, Laiwu Steel has three production lines for H-beam steel and the total production capacity is 250,000tpm. The producer started the equipment maintenance of one production line on May 20 and it will last for 25 days at least. The source estimated it will influence an output of 150,000t.
